It is what initially drew me to CrossFit in the first place. — But...just like anything there is a time, place and process to being better at competition. — When you first start, everything seems like a competition and you are in a hurry to accomplish as many new skills as possible with no regard for proper progressions. — The problem is, two years later you still find yourself struggling with skills you did when you first started. Why? Because you never spent time actually practicing ... just competing. — The high stress, high heart rate environment of competition is not for skill acquisition or motor learning. Matter of fact, fatigue is the kryptonite to both. — Realize that if you are redlining every workout, you probably aren’t improving your fitness or your movement quality. Your body is in fight or flight mode and all you can do is survive. — The task? Find your threshold. Work on pacing. Establish mini goals.
